God Of wonders

As most of you know, I tend to have nights where I can’t get to sleep until the wee hours of the morning and I end up watching a lot of television and see all kinds of shows ranging from History, Crime, Religion and the ever popular, inf0-mercials. One night I watched an info-mercial for a praise and worship CD, ‘Open The Eyes Of My Heart’. I ordered the cd and it has to be one of the best things I’ve ever purchased from a television offer. It’s full of wonderful songs and one of my favorite is “God Of Wonders” by Third Day. I want to share the lyrics with you, and I pray they touch you as they have me.

The Solid Rock

This was written by Edward Mote in 1834 even though it was introduced in 1837 by David Denham as being written by Rees, (I’m not sure if he is referring here to Timothy or William Rees). This mistaken identity was due to Mote’s submission of the lyrics to a fellow brother in Christ for his wife to read during her illness and Mote had failed to put his name or initials on the copy.

In 1836, Edward Mote published his own book Hymns of Praise and this song was listed. Some may call it “old timey” but I call it wonderful. You can check out other Gospel Hymns over at The Cyber Hymnal.

Victory Is Mine

One of my favorite movies is “The Apostle” starring Robert Duvall and one of the songs in the movie is simple yet very moving and stirs the soul. I tried in vain to find out who authored this Hymn, but was unsuccessful. I’ve also added a few of *my own lines toward the end, and if there is anything you are believing for today, add that too! I was watching the Daystar Christian channel this evening, and a praise an worship group came on and sang this song. The words touched my heart I had to look them up and put them here for you. I found them at www.praize.com and Cece Winans sings it on her Throne Room CD. I will definitely have to pick this up and make it part of my daily praise and worship time.
