A Chuckle For a Blah Monday

This was at the end of an email my friend Gloria sent me and it tickled me, so I’m sharing it with ya’ll.

              ” We may have to get rid of the woodpecker!”

Everything I need to know about life, I learned from Noah’s Ark

One : Don’t miss the boat.
: Remember that we are all in the same boat.
: Plan ahead –  It wasn’t raining while Noah built the Ark.
: Stay fit, when you’re 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
: Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
: Build your future on high ground.
: For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.                                                                                                     Eight : Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
: When you’re stressed, float a while.
: You don’t have to know it all.  Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there’s always a rainbow waiting.

Update on Logan 4/28

Daniel sent me this update on Logan.  Praise God for His healing hands and mercy.  Please continue to lift Logan up before the Lord along with his family.

I am very happy to say that Logan is making some progress. He is opening his eyes, turning his head, and posturing. I’m not sure what they mean by posturing, so if anyone can say what is meant by that, it would be great. They are baby steps, but we’ll take them. His mom says that they still have him on the ventilator to keep a good supply of oxygen to his brain. His condition is still critical, and he is still hour to hour, day to day and things could change at any time.

My dearest prayer warrior friends,

I was blessed to see Logan and hold his precious little hand this afternoon. The staff as been trying to wean him off the vent– shortly before I saw him, Logan was able to breath on his own without the support of the vent…the vent has NOT been removed but he was not having to use it to support his breathing. YEA!!!! God!!!!! He looked very peaceful without any distress. His O2 saturations were 99%, his blood pressure and heart rate seemed within normal limits His dad and sisters said he has squeezed their hand. He has ankle/foot braces on for 4 hours and off for 2…I think that is the schedule. Physical therapy is coming in to do range of motion and it appears he responds to a poke on his foot. His last MRI seems to show LESS brain damage than previous ones. The family said the Dr’s. don’t know what to make of it but and we ( the family and all other faithful believers in God’s almighty healing power) know a miracle when we see it. The family said Logan is scheduled to have a feeding tube surgically placed on Wed. They will also continue the repair to his right shoulder and do a tracheotomy (IF necessary)

The family is grateful for your prayers.  Keep them coming. I will be glad to forward any prayer or comment  to the family.  They seem quite hopeful and listen to what the Dr’s. say but put their faith in the One true Healer. I spoke with grandpa George and was relieved to see he also has a great sense of hope and gratefulness to our Heavenly Father. Please continue your prayer vigils they work.

Pray also for Shelby’s and Haley’s  focus as they both have TAKS test next week. We all know those test are of no consequence in the big scheme of life but required nonetheless. I cannot even imagine having to worry about a test at a time like this.

Daddy God thank you for the gifts we receive, continue to watch over all the prayer warriors, forgive us our sins  and help us to reconcile our will to yours, In Jesus holy name. Amen

Angels are With Us

My friend Daniel sent this to me and I wanted to pass it along to everyone.  Angels are among us – This did happen:

One day going to work I had an experience that I never had before or since.

The time was about 5 AM when I started to walk down a long train of outside concrete stairs leading down from one street to another. I reached a place on the stairs where it is mostly hidden from view, here I was confronted by two men who must have been out all night and had been drinking. One was a bigger man than I and the other about the same size as me. The bigger started talking then the smaller started to fight with me. Now here I’m between these two and no way am I going to get away. I was scared to say the least. I figured I was going to get stabbed and probably die right there on these stairs next to my apartment building.

Out of nowhere I looked up and I see a large man in basically regular clothes but did have blonde hair. When the other men saw him they backed off from me and I was free to go. I then began to continue down the stairs with this large man behind me.

As we walked down I turned my head around and asked him “where did you come from”?

Once or twice I asked and received no answer, just this big smile.

Then said “boy glad that you came along, did you see what was going on over there”?

Just a low quick talk and smile.

When we reached the bottom of the stairs I looked back to thank him for coming at the time that he did.

He was not there! I looked all over, gone! I was stunned, no one can disappear in a second. Then I realized what it had to be. An angel! I was actually protected by an angel sent from God!

My life was most likely going to end there but God said no. He sent an angel to disrupt and stop whatever was going to take place. No one would have seen what had happened to me and it would have been an awful long time before they discovered my body and the two men would have gotten away and never been caught.

To this day I have never seen that being again.

All praise, honor and glory to our God!!! Thank You Lord Jesus!!!

If not God sending an angel, I would not be writing this now!

Praise God!!!

Psalm 91
Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God

1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
         Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
         My God, in Him I will trust.”
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler[a]
And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers,
         And under His wings you shall take refuge;
         His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
         And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
8 Only with your eyes shall you look,
         And see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you,
         Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
         To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up,
         Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
         The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
         I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
         I will be with him in trouble;
         I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him,
         And show him My salvation.”

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Prayer Update for Jose

I am sorry for not posting sooner, we are trying to catch up on sleep and rest after Jose’s surgery.

I give all glory and honor and praise to God for His healing hands and grace.  Jose was in surgery for 4 hours on Wednesday and while we do not know if the tumor was benign or malignant, he is doing great!  The doctor said he got it all!

He is home and resting and we are so happy that his spirits are good and he has even had some movement in his neck which he hasn’t had in a very very long tme.

Right now we are both resting, him from his surgery, and me from being at the hospital from 530am to Midnight and not getting sound rest while at home.

I thank you all for your prayers and ask that you continue to seek God on Jose’s behalf that God would continue the good work He has started and that Jose would have full range of motion in his neck and be pain free.

Prayer Request Jose

Well brothers and sisters in Christ, I come to you asking for prayer for my husband.

Tomorrow morning he will undergo surgery to remove a tumor from the left side of his neck.  He detected it about a year ago, but did not say anything and because he is a husky guy and wears a beard it was not easily visible.

One day about 2 months ago I was rubbing his shoulders when I noticed it and that’s when he told me about it.  Needless to say I lifted him up to the Lord and then made him go to the doctors.

They did a needle biopsy however it came back as “undetermined” meaning they could not say if it was benign, or malignant.  To be quite honest, it didn’t matter to me one way or the other, the mass needs to come out and I know the God I serve so I’ve had true peace about the whole thing.  My husband has placed himself in God’s hands, but he is still human and has some anxiety about the procedure.  I think it’s because the surgery will involve them turning his neck a full 180 degrees and for the past 2 years he has barely been able to turn his neck side to side or lift his head up and down.  This is due to being rear-ended in July 2006 and then again in August 2007.

As for me, I think this will be a good thing because they will have him sedated and they will move his neck farther than it has in years.  I know this will case him major discomfort, however I also know that God can work this out so that Jose will not experience pain.

Please lift Jose up before the Lord with me as we declare that this tumor will be completely removed and that there will be no side effects, pain or hindrance for him.  Agree with me in prayer that God will place His angels over my husband and watch over him during surgery and that He will guide the hands of the surgeons and nurses that will be taking care of him.  I claim healing and restoration for Jose in the mighty name of Jesus, Jehovah Rophe, Yeshua Ha’Mashiach!

Prayer Request for Shorty

Please join me in prayer for Doris’ brother Shorty who lives in Seneca Illinois..  He has been told by his doctors that he may have cancer and will need numerous biopsies in June at an oncology center in Chicago to determine how they will need to treat it.  Please also pray for Shorty’s wife Marge for peace, strength and courage as she supports her husband during this trying time.

Father, You are Jehovah Rophe and we come to you today on behalf of Shorty and pray that You place Your hands upon him and his wife.  Jesus, You bore all our sickness and freed us from the curse of death while on the cross.  Your blood flows through Shorty and brings life and healing to him.  We forbid any tumors or growths to inhabit Shorty’s body and command them to dissolve in the name of Jesus.  Sickness must flee and has no power over him and the word of God energizes every cell of his body.

Lord, may the peace that only You can bring cover Shorty and Marge.  Father, give Your angels charge over them and place a hedge of protection around them.

Update on Logan 4/21

Here is the latest update on Logan. Thank you to all of you for forwarding the prayer requests and lifting this family into the healing embrace of Our Lord.

The doctors are taking Logan off of the sedation medications that have been keeping him in a coma and try to wake him up. They are awaiting results from chest xrays and an MRI that has been done. The bolt that was inserted to measure the pressure in his brain has been removed also.
