January Pay It Forward With A Twist

Pay It Forward- small

It’s a new month which means it’s Pay It Forward time, and to start the year off right I’m giving away 2 books!  Both books are by Gloria Gaither, and both are in brand new condition so rather than ask you to Pay It Forward, I’ve decided to let YOU make the decision to keep them, give them as gifts or Pay It Forward.

The first book is Bless This House gaither1.  The last paragraph of the foreword written by Gloria says, “…It is my hope that this blessing will encourage all who would like to sanctify and bless the place we call home-whether the home is new, or whether you are making a new commitment to make your house a home.”  The book is full of wonderful sayings like this one, “May gratitude, kindness, and encouragement be spoken and demonstrated so often and so naturally in the daily activities of this home that they become the chisel that carves the character and shapes the personalities being formed here.”

The second book is Bless This Marriage gaither2.  In her foreword, Gloria stresses the importance of supporting couples who marry not just at their wedding, but all along their journey by encouraging, nurturing, supporting and reminding them of their vows and letting them know through our beliefs problems should and can be solved. This saying is one of my favorites, “May strong and secure ties of trust grow between you and give you the freedom to welcome the hurt, the lonely, the broken, and the stranger into the embrace of your home.”

To enter, simply leave a comment by January 31st 11:59 PM EST and let me know which book you would like to be considered for.  If you want a chance at both books, leave a separate comment for each.  I will be using Random.Org to select 2 winners.  For an extra entry, put a post about my giveaway on your blog and/or subscribe to my feed (let me know in your comments if you’ve done this).  Good luck and God bless.

Make sure you head over to OWJ‘s site too, she is giving away 3 books and there are lots of other participants that are having giveways on their blogs!

December Pay It Forward

Pay It Forward- small

Okay, the November Pay It Forward winner has been chosen and announced, so now it’s time for my December Pay It Forward.  This month’s book is The Christmas Blessingdec pif book by you guessed it, Donna VanLiere.  This book is the sequel to The Christmas Shoes so if you haven’t read it yet, be sure to do so before reading The Christmas Blessing.

Here is a summary that I took from the Barnes and Noble website:  Van Liere’s sequel to the bestselling The Christmas Shoes catches up with Nathan Andrews (the eight-year-old who bought sequined shoes for his dying mother’s walk into heaven) in his third year of medical school. Doubting his ability as a doctor and still bitter about his mother’s death on Christmas Day years before, Nathan falls for Meghan Sullivan, a young woman in his cardiology rotation who may be suffering from a terminal heart defect. As she languishes, she renews Nathan’s faltering faith and sense of purpose in life. He learns again through love the wisdom his mother shared before dying: “each of us is destined for something, a purpose that often seems muddy”; and even when life brings more pain than it should, in the end there is always joy. Van Liere’s warm prose transforms what would otherwise be a cliched tearjerker of a Christmas miracle into a cozy, inspirational holiday tale.

To enter, simply leave me a comment no later than midnight, December 14th.  I’m ending this one early so that you can have it before Christmas.  Remember, this is a pay it forward so when you’re done reading it, you must list it on your website as a giveaway!  If you don’t have a blog but still want to enter, you can, simply agree to pass it on to someone in your contact list or a good friend who would enjoy reading the book.

christmas-hope.jpg    Now, for my November Pay It Forward…November is here, the chill is in the air, Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away and the next thing you know Christmas will be upon us so to get into the “spirit” of the holidays I’m giving away the book, “The Christmas Hope” by Donna VanLiere.  I love this author and I loved this book.  I read it in one night.  If you’ve ever read, “The Christmas Shoes”, or any of her other books, you will not be disappointed with this story.  It’s the kind of book you curl up in bed with and finish in one long night.  I took the annotation from the Barnes and Noble website so here you go:

…Against her better judgment, a social worker bends the rules and takes a little girl to her own home at Christmas. Through the warming presence of Emily and her penetrating questions about heaven, the Addisons will learn that there is no sorrow so great that faith cannot lead the way through.

Make sure you head on over to Overwhelmed With Joy to check out her site, and check out all the other wonderful bloggers and the great giveaways they have posted!

My contest this month will run through November 30th 5pm EST!

Dinner With A Perfect Stranger – An Invitation Worth Considering                                                                                                                    by David Gregory

oct pif

I loved this book so much I bought several copies and gave them as Christmas presents a few years ago.  It was a real page turner and I hated to see it end.  Put yourself in Nick’s place and ask yourself WWYD – what would YOU do if Jesus invited you to dinner.  Here is a synopsis taken from Barnes and Noble’s website:

Synopsis

You are Invited to a Dinner with Jesus of Nazareth.  The mysterious envelope arrives on Nick Cominsky’s desk amid a stack of credit card applications and business-related junk mail. Although his seventy-hour workweek has already eaten into his limited family time, Nick can’t pass up the opportunity to see what kind of plot his colleagues have hatched.

Make sure you go to Overwhelmed With Joy and check out the other October PIF giveaways!
