It cleans the floors so well, steaming sanitizes and leaves no chemical residue and I have 2 dogs so I don't worry if they nibble some food that fell on the floor. I will say that the only drawback is having to sweep before you mop and after you mop, because of the pet hair that somehow clings to the floor, but it takes less than a minute to sweep after you mop - just make sure the floor is dry, which again only takes a minute or two. I WILL NEVER MOP MY FLOORS USING THE TRADITIONAL MOP AND BUCKET METHOD, EVER AGAIN! Since your cat tends to be incontinent, you may want to pick up a few extra cleaning pads, the unit comes with 2, but I'm going to get a couple more. I use the same pad for all my floors, then I toss it the laundry and put it outside in the sun to dry, but sometimes I need to mop more than twice a week.
